  5. The Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window will appear next. Allow the following settings to be enabled:
  • Automatically get an IP address
  • Automatically Obtain DNS Server Address

The router is in charge of automatically assigning an IP address. Although you may still provide a particular IP address, this is the default setup.

In such scenario, you should first change the IP address to automatic and then check the Internet Properties for the proper settings once connected.

If acquiring an IP address and DNS manually does not resolve the issue, you may want to explore manually changing both your IP address and DNS. Follow these steps to do so:

  1. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties to see your connection properties.
  2. Choose Use the following IP address and Use the following DNS server addresses from the drop-down menus. Fill in the blanks as shown in the image below. 1649406840_108_Ethernet-doesnt-have-a-valid-IP-configuration-Windows-10
  3. Once you’ve finished, click OK to save your changes.

Check connection properties on any other device that can connect to your network successfully to view the relevant information such as Default gateway and Subnet mask.

Keep in mind that in our solutions, we updated our DNS to Google’s DNS. It is not necessary to change both your IP address and DNS, according to users, but if manually changing your IP address does not work, be sure to update your DNS as well.

3. Use compatibility mode to install your drivers.

  1. Get the most recent drivers for your network device.

Several people claimed that merely removing IPv6 solved the issue. They deactivated IPv6 since their IPS didn’t support it, according to them.

After that, IPv6 should be turned off. Now all you have to do is restart your computer to see whether the issue has been repaired.

Several people suggest using the Registry Editor to disable IPv6. To do so, go through the following steps:

  1. Enter regedit by pressing Windows key + R. Enter the code. 1649406851_489_Ethernet-doesnt-have-a-valid-IP-configuration-Windows-10
  2. Navigate to HKEY LOCAL MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpIP6Parameters in the left pane of Registry Editor.
  3. Expand the New section by right-clicking the empty area in the right pane. Then choose DWORD (32-bit) Value. As the name of the new DWORD, type DisabledComponents. 1649406852_629_Ethernet-doesnt-have-a-valid-IP-configuration-Windows-10
  4. To access the properties of DisabledComponents, double-click it. Set Value data to ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff 1649406853_542_Ethernet-doesnt-have-a-valid-IP-configuration-Windows-10

IPv6 should now be totally deactivated on your computer. All you have to do now is restart your computer to implement the modifications. Simply remove the DisabledComponents DWORD from your registry to enable IPv6.

If you don’t want to mess with your registry, Microsoft has created an utility that will deactivate IPv6 for you. Simply download the Disable IPv6 program and follow the on-screen instructions.

All you have to do now is download and run this utility to re-enable IPv6.

Keep in mind that IPv6 is a critical component of Windows, and deactivating it may result in issues. If you have any more network issues, you may need to re-enable IPv6.

Some customers have encountered errors while trying to access the Registry in Windows 10, but this is a simple workaround.

After that, see whether the issue with the Ethernet connection persists.

18. Turn off your antivirus software.

Antivirus software may regularly interfere with your network connection, resulting in this and other issues. In fact, several customers have claimed that their antivirus software is preventing them from connecting to the Internet.

To resolve this issue, try deactivating specific options in your antivirus and see if it resolves the issue.

If it doesn’t work, try turning off your antivirus entirely.

In certain more severe circumstances, stopping the antivirus program isn’t enough, therefore you’ll have to remove it for a while. We suggest using a specialist antivirus removal program to thoroughly remove your antivirus and any files linked with it.

The problem should be fixed after completely deleting the antivirus program. All you have to do now is update your antivirus software or switch to a different antivirus program.

Do you have Norton Antivirus installed? Here’s how to remove it fully. If you want to get rid of McAfee permanently, see our McAfee removal instructions.

19. Make any necessary changes to your register.

  1. Open the Registry Editor program. Solution 6 explains how to accomplish it in full, so go there for more information.
