The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stated on Monday that the recommended isolation period for persons who test positive for COVID-19 and those who come into close contact with someone who has tested positive has been changed.
The recommended quarantine period has been halved, from 10 to 5 days.
According to recent research, persons who have Coronavirus – any of the types – are most infectious during the two days before and three days after they develop symptoms.
This might be related to the fact that the Omicron form, which is currently the world’s leading strain, is less symptomatic and virulent, and in many instances asymptomatic.
Following Christmas, CDC Director Rachel Walensky warned of a possible significant increase of positive COVID-19 cases.
“The Omicron variety is rapidly spreading and has the potential to affect every aspect of our civilization.” The CDC’s new isolation and quarantine guidelines strike a balance between what we know about the virus’s propagation and the protection given by vaccine and booster doses. These updates guarantee that individuals may go about their regular lives in safety. Get vaccinated, get boosted, wear a mask in public indoor settings in locations where community transmission is considerable and strong, and take a test before you congregate.”
